I believe most people need to team up for accountability and success. Each of us is created with certain abilities and giftings that vary from person to person. That’s why you don’t see me in the NBA or flying jet airplanes or sculpting art.
We’re also relational beings and as such it’s important for us to have connections with those in our personal sphere that we like and trust.
I’ve always been a numbers guy and have enjoyed being in finance for over two decades. It wouldn’t be out of the question for me to complete my own tax return each year (I’ve done it in the past) and stay up-to-date on the latest changes, but I don’t. I delegate my tax preparation to someone who specializes in that area and it frees me up to focus on more important things in life – like you! My tax preparer also sees different aspects of the tax world that I don’t see and he can advise me on different strategies I might employ. If I ever have a tax problem I can lean on his expertise to help me navigate the IRS and come out the other side well. I learn from him and believe I am more successful because of the knowledge and service he provides. Yes, I could do it myself, but it would take more time, effort, and money than I want to spend.
The same is true for many when it comes to investments, insurance, and financial planning. As a former school teacher I’ve always had a penchant for coming along side others and walking with them through new adventures, successes, and struggles. There is no reason to go-it-alone! Year after year studies show investors are more successful working with a Financial Advisor.1,2
