Do I need a financial plan … really?

December 12, 2019

I believe everyone should have an up-to-date comprehensive written financial plan.

But why?

We’ve met with a wide variety of people over the years and listened to them speak about their goals, priorities, and values. Almost every time they say something related to wanting more confidence regarding their finances. I feel this can be accomplished with financial plan. Think about a time in your life when money was, or is, tight. Things are pretty simple – food, shelter, clothing. As time goes by and a person earns a little more and saves more and hopefully is building a retirement account, etc… All of a sudden questions start to come to mind like:

  • Am I investing correctly?
  • Am I saving enough?
  • What happens to my family finances if I died?
  • I’ve heard about an emergency fund, what should that look like?
  • How much life insurance should I have?
  • What about debt?

We live in the most prosperous nation on the planet and many people desire to be good stewards of their money. That’s when a comprehensive written financial plan is important. It takes a little effort and a little self-discipline but I’ve seen how it can lead to financial confidence for those that work out a plan.

The process may be simple but also significant and we can help you through it. Our mission is to help clients live by their values and priorities so they can enjoy life more fully and live more simply. There are no guarantees in life, but I believe a plan with some easy to follow systems and an idea of where a person is headed can certainly help them feel better when they put their head on the pillow at night.

Investing involves risk and there is no guarantee that any financial plan or investment strategy will be successful.
